PRAYERS TO FOLLOW FIRST FRIDAY MASS

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament

O saving Victim, open wide

The gate of heaven to us below.

Our foes press on from every side;

Your aid supply, your strength bestow.

To your great name be endless praise,

Immortal Godhead, One in Three;

O grant us endless length of days

In our true native land with thee. Amen.

O salutaris Hostia

Quae caeli pandis ostium;

Bella premunt hostilia,

Da robur, fer auxillium.

Uni trinoque Domino

Sit sempiterna gloria,

Qui vitam sine termino

Nobis donet in patria. Amen

OPENING SONG

“Hail Most Merciful Heart of Jesus”

By: Donna Cori Gibson

Hail Most Merciful Heart of Jesus,

Hail living fountain of all grace,

Our soul’s shelter, our only refuge,

The light of hope issued for our race.

Hail open wound of your Sacred Heart,

From which the rays of Mercy come,

From which was given us to draw life,

With the vessel of trust alone.

Hail throne of mercy, Lamb of God,

Who gave your life, sacrificed for me,

Before whom my soul is humbled daily,

Living in faith profound with Thee.

OPENING PRAYER

  O JESUS I offer You my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings, all that this day may bring, for the love of God, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for all the sins committed against the Sacred Heart.

DIVINE MERCY CHAPLET

MAKE THE SIGN OF THE CROSS (Crucifix)

OPENING PRAYER (First bead)

You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world.  O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us (1319).

O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of mercy for us, I trust in You! (three times)

Say the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Apostles Creed

(Group of three beads)

OUR FATHER

V: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy Kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

R: Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

HAIL MARY

V:  Hail Mary, full of grace, The Lord is with thee.  Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

R:  Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.  Amen.

APOSTLES’ CREED

V:  I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth;

and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, Our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried.

He descended to the dead; on the third day He rose again.
He ascended into Heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from hence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.

R:  I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Amen.

ON THE ONE BEAD BEFORE EACH DECADE

V:  Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ

R:  In atonement for our sins and those of the whole world

ON THE TEN BEADS OF EACH DECADE

V:  For the sake of His sorrowful Passion

R:  Have Mercy on us and on the whole world

CONCLUSION

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world (three times) (476)

PRAYER

Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion-inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your Holy Will, which is Love and Mercy itself. (950)

ACT OF CONSECRATION AND REPARATION TO THE MOST SACRED HEART OF JESUS

     Most loving, Sacred Heart of Jesus! I adore you; I give you my heart and offer to you all that I am and that I possess; I consecrate myself wholly to you; my soul with all its faculties, my body with all its senses, my heart with all its affections, my mind with all its intellect, desiring all things to honor, love, and glorify you, especially in the Holy Eucharist; in atonement for my own sins as well as in reparation for all the offenses that are committed against you in the sacrament of your love, and finally in humble supplication, that I may henceforth be faithful to you; that I may please you in thought, word, and deed, that I may suffer in patience and in perfect resignation to your Holy Will, that I may become like to you in meekness and humility, that I may persevere in your love and bless you with the saints and angels in eternity.

     We beseech you also, O good Jesus, by your Sacred Heart, overflowing with sweetness and mercy, to bless our Holy Father, the Pope, and our Holy Mother, the Church; to take under your special protection this parish, Holy Spirit Parish at Geist, our homes, our country, our leaders, our legislators, our bishops, our priests, our deacons, and all Religious Orders.  We recommend to you all our concerns, our friends, relatives, benefactors, and all those who have asked us to pray for them; those who are sick and those who are dying, and all who are under any affliction. Cast an eye of compassion on obstinate sinners, and unbelievers. Give eternal rest to the faithful departed. Amen.

Holy God, we praise thy name;

Lord of all, we bow before thee;

All on earth they scepter claim;

All in heaven above adore thee.

Infinite they vast domain,

Everlasting is thy reign!

In unceasing chorus praising,

Fill the heavens with sweet accord:

"Holy, holy, holy, Lord!"
