Thanksgiving Baskets Event 2020

This ministry provides baskets of food to hundreds of families during the Thanksgiving Holiday.
This year's event will be held Saturday, November 21st, with basket drop-off from at 8-10am, and deliveries beginning at 9:00am.

 

COVID-19 UPDATE:  We are planning on holding the event with some modifications in place.  We are in need of drivers to drive to individual homes and agencies.  We also need volunteers in the parking lot to help unload/load baskets. 
We will be utilizing social distancing in the Social Hall and limiting the number of people inside at one time with a line at the door, and marks on the floor at the map tables.
We are asking all volunteers to wear masks in the Social Hall and the parking lot at all times. 
BREAKFAST WILL NOT BE SERVED.

The Completed Shop, Donation and/or Delivery Forms will be automatically sent to Holy Spirit Parish.

We Need Additional Volunteers for the following

  • Verify addresses - Using your computer at home (Google maps), help verify individual addresses for delivery of the food baskets.
  • Reminder CallsHelp call our Good Samaritan families to remind them of date and time of delivery (50 names/volunteer).
  • Shopping – Signup to shop for baskets with donated money (reimbursement is made to you with donated money).

DETAILS

Donate a Basket: Last year over 900 baskets were donated and delivered all over Hamilton County and the Indianapolis area.  Please utilize the signup link above to donate a basket. 

A link is also provided above for the Shopping List detailing all items needed to make one complete basket. Place all items in a plastic container with lid and drop off in the parking lot between 8-10am on the 21st. Note: if you are donating a basket and helping with deliveries, please fill out BOTH forms above. Monetary donations toward the purchase of a basket are welcomed and can be dropped off/mailed to the Parish Office (please write "Thanksgiving Baskets" in the memo of your check).

 

Drivers: *New this year, our insurance company requires that all drivers fill out the Voluntary Driver Form and the Driver Acknowledgement Form and return them by November 19th to the parish office or by email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. before delivering any baskets (links provided above). Over 150 drivers are needed to deliver baskets on the 21st (signup link above).  Addresses are not pre-assigned. They are given out on a first-come, first-serve basis starting in the Social Hall starting at 9am.  We ask most drivers to deliver 3-6 baskets, however, drivers with larger vehicles (SUV’s, pickup trucks, etc.) will be needed to take a larger number of baskets. We will be delivering to individual addresses and agencies, but will ask all drivers to please be flexible, as we may have a bigger need to deliver to agencies than in previous years.

 

Parking lot volunteers: Adults and teens only that are able to lift and carry heavy baskets.  Confirmation candidates – please signup through Youth Ministry.  All others, use link above.
