The Catholic Ministries Appeal is the annual appeal that funds ministries and services to parishes across our Diocese. This was formerly two appeals – Fruitful Harvest (every other year) and Seminarian Appeal (every year). They are now together. The appeal runs from January 1st to December 31st each year.

With your support, various ministries across our diocese are funded in full or in part by this appeal. Some examples are:
The Catholic Ministries Appeal helps both educate men for the priesthood and permanent diaconate and also provide for the programs to get them to the seminary or studies. Fr. Derek Aaron who is in residence at St. John Vianney and assists here at HS, works full-time in vocational recruitment. The CMA funds his salary and the programs he runs such as taking young men to visit seminaries.
Catholic Ministries Appeal also supports our priest by providing on-going education and the supplemental health insurance for our retired priests.
Since many parishes in our diocese are small, the Catholic Ministries Appeal provides youth retreat opportunities. A diocesan junior high retreat is happening this weekend at St. Elizabeth Seton.
It also helps support Campus Ministry at three college campuses in our Diocese – Ball State University, Purdue University, and Wabash College.
The Catholic Ministry Appeal also helps parishes. Holy Spirit has benefited from the services of diocesan staff Andy Guljas, an architect, who spent countless hours -- reviewing contracts, meetings – assisting with the Parish Life Expansion and our larger maintenance projects. All at no cost to the parish.
You should have received a brochure and pledge card in the mail. If not, you go online HERE to make a gift, pledge or sustaining gift.
Our parish goal is: $317,838. This is our share of the diocesan need based on our annual Sunday offering. Contributions beyond our goal as a pastorate come back to us. At Holy Spirit those contributions will be used for our outreach – our programs to change the lives of those in need.
If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact me or stop me after Mass.
Yours in Christ,
Fr. Dale
